I am very excited to be the new French I teacher this year at Discovery and Liberty Middle Schools. I recently moved with my husband and 2 boys to Madison. We are happy to be settling down here after my husband's retirement from the U.S. Army and over 26 years of active-duty service.
I have a bachelor’s degree in French and international business from Birmingham-Southern College and a Master of French Studies from Auburn. I also studied French at the Alliance Française in Paris and as a Rotary International Cultural Ambassadorial Scholar at the University of Brussels in Belgium. I taught introductory French courses at Auburn University and at Huntingdon College and have taught French I-IV to students in grades 8-12.
The course syllabus given out on the first day of school gives specific details about the course. Even if you have never studied a foreign language, parents can assist your child simply by showing interest in what is being studied in class. I will attempt to discover your child’s specific interests and to offer individualized activities to help your child feel ownership of the course material.
Parents are a valuable resource, both to your child and to me in facilitating your child’s education: please feel free to contact me anytime with ideas, questions, thoughts, concerns, offers to help, or even stories of when you may have taken French. This website will have links to all of our classroom activities and many resources that will be beneficial to students. I look forward to getting to know you and your child better during the school year.
